This afternoon I broke a little bone in my foot. How you ask? Well, nothing exciting like wake-boarding or mountain biking or competing in the ironman competition… oh no, it was speed garage cleaning in completely the wrong shoes! ;b
Curt had been working on the garage and called me out to tell me what his “piles” all were before he and Eric headed off to the park. I had slipped on some wooden clog-style sandals to go look. After he left, I put Kendra in her exersaucer outside, so I could finish up a few more things, completely forgetting about what shoes I had on. :/ Well, she started to melt down, and I just had a few things left to get done, so I started rushing. Taking the last shelving unit (which was very light plastic) out to the curb, I turned my foot over and heard a snap. The strap across my foot must have cracked the bone above my little toe. It hurt pretty bad and turned a light shade of black & blue instantly.
I was hoping maybe I just sprained something, but alas, it’s broke. Fortunately, it’s still lined up and doesn’t appear to be serious at all, but the recovery time could be 6 - 8 weeks or more! :/ The cavalry of grandmas are coming each day next week, and then I’ll play it by ear. Supposedly it’s going to take longer than a regular break to heal, but I hope it heals faster than they think. I’m going to see the specialist on Thursday, so I’m optimistic he’ll have better news for me.
Last Friday, we (Deb, Eric & Kendra) headed to Watertown for a jam-packed day. First, we visited Great Grandpa Phil to spend some quality time. Then we headed over to visit Great Grandma Irene (who Kendra is named after). Then I dropped Eric off at G & G Schumachers as he was headed to the Fireside that night with “the girls”.
OK, so Eric is caring for his stuffed lamb, Oliver, but you’ll get the idea…
Today, Grandma Judy & Grandma Irene visited. We took them to the Olbrich Spring Flower Show. It’s on until Mar 23. If you want it to feel and smell like Spring, I suggest a trip. Also, if you want to warm up during a cold day, I suggest a tour in the observatory when it’s sunny out. It felt like summer upstairs. I was carrying Kendra in our ergo carrier. By the time we were back downstairs, she had little sweat beads all over her face.
Eric had fun smelling all the spring flowers and throwing Grandma Judy’s spare change into the fish ponds, and Kendra slept during her first visit to the gardens!
I’ll post some pictures when I get them downloaded from the camera.
Baby #2 continues to do well! I wish I could say the same for his/her mom-mom! Today I had a migraine, and of course, there’s nothing I can take. Fortunately, Eric was content to sit down an watch a few hours of Dora, while I laid down and tried to ride it out. I think a call to the acupuncturist will be in order, if this continues to be an issue.
Back to the important information… Continue reading »
Last Monday, I had a very nice girls-night-out with my friends, Cindy & Julie (my co-workers from the former foodusa.com). We went to the Melting Pot for Monday Night Ladies Night (cheese fondue w/ dippers, a salad & chocolate fondue w/ dippers for $15 each). It’s definitely an experience you need to have at least once! I can highly recommend the Traditional Swiss Cheese Fondue & the Flaming Turtle Chocolate Fondue. I will definitely go for dessert again sometime, and despite the prices of the Entrees, I think it would be worth it to try a full-blown meal at least once!
