So, I was down stairs, working on the computer when I heard Spencer running around like crazy. So, I went up to see what was going on and I saw a white mini-van in the driveway and heard people talking. I walked out the garage door and there were two people rummaging through what was left from the garage sale! They said that they wanted to buy stuff. So, I let them look, took $4.75 from them and they left.

I suppose I should have shut the garage door after I installed the light!

I went to the first orientation class tonight. At the end of class, Ken the lead instructor for the IT classes approached me and said that there was a slight change in plans. They reassigned me to another class! The nice thing is, the class doesn’t start until October, so I’ve got time to change gears. It also gives me more time to complete my paperwork to get signed up as a part time instructor.

Another big plus is the class is going to be easier to teach, which is good for me as this is the first time I’m going to be teaching a class! The course is called “Careers In IT” and it covers the different types of jobs available in the IT industry. That will be easier to handle than a networking class where I might have to wing it!

Well, it isn’t official yet, but I figured I might as well post something about it.

I’m going to be teaching a class at MATC (Madison Area Technical College) this fall! I applied early in the summer and they just contacted me a few weeks ago about teaching an intro to networking class. So, I decided to give it a shot. It is every Thursday from 5:30 - 9:00 pm.  I’ve never taught a class before, and have always wondered what it was about.  Now is my chance to check it out.

The nice thing is MATC gives me everything I need to teach the class.  Their philosophy is to find people with industry experience and teach them how to teach rather than take a teacher and try to teach them the industry.  I like that! :)

I’m looking forward to giving it a shot.  Hopefully the students and other faculty will take it easy on me my first semester. :)

Today was the company (AmFam) picnic at Noah’s Arc in Wisconsin Dells. It was a perfect day. A little chilly at first, but it warmed up and we had a good time. We meet up with the Sawicki’s and had a good time hanging out with them. We also ran into the Klodd’s (co-worker of Curt’s) and it was good catching up with them. The kids had a blast and I think all of the parents did too. Eric was a little more reserved than normal, but we think it was due to the cold water. He did go on Congo Bongo with us, but it wasn’t his favorite part of the day. :)
